Weston Airport, formerly owned by ex Citywest hotelier Jim Mansfield, is for sale with a guide price of €3 million.
James Higham, of Savills UK dedicated airport advisory team said that an airport of this size has not been openly offered to the market in Britain or Ireland for a number of years. He said that a number of aviation companies have already made enquires.
His Irish-based Savills colleague, Mark Reynolds said that the airport offers owners of corporate jets a far more economic proposition in terms of landing and storage charges “to the extent that the charges at Weston are only 10% of those charged by the DAA”.
“The facility offers a fantastic opportunity to build on the trading position of the current operation and to benefit from the significant historic expenditure which has been incurred over the last 7 years to upgrade the facility. All that is now needed is some ‘Michael O’Leary’ entrepreneurial spirit to drive the turnover of the business to new heights,” he said.
