Three properties were sold last Friday at the first public property auction in Sligo in five years.
The properties, all in Sligo town, had guide prices of €25,000, €65,000 and €75,000 respectively but sold for €43,000, €69,000 and €81,000.
There was massive interest in the sale of the properties – two of which were being sold on behalf of a receiver – with more than 80 bidders at the public auction.
“It just shows that if the guide is set at a reasonable price, people are willing to buy. If the price is fair, there are always buyers out there,” said Shane Flanagan, a partner at DNG Flanagan Ford, who ran the auction.
