Property tax rates could be frozen to avoid sudden jump at end of 2016

Local property tax rates could be put on hold until 2018.

It is part of the Government’s efforts to calm fears about a sudden jump in the amount facing people once the current freeze runs out in 2016.

The Irish Times is also quoting a “ministerial source”, which says the strategy could see the tax linked to the rate of inflation to ensure increases are modest.
