MyHome.ie continuing to grow in Co Waterford

MyHome.ie has been increasing its reach throughout Waterford in the last year.

In the last 12 months alone, MyHome.ie has increased the number of estate agents advertising property in Waterford significantly.

With established names such as the Brophy Cusack, Ennis Gough, DNG Thomas Reid, Manor Properties and REA O’Shea O’Toole and REA Spratt on board, to name but a few, there are now more properties being advertised on MyHome.ie in Waterford than at any stage in the last decade.

The property website, which recently celebrated 15 years in business, is currently embarking on an advertising campaign in the county in support of its estate agents. These adverts will be appearing in local newspapers and on MyHome.ie’s social media channels.

According to MyHome.ie’s managing director Angela Keegan the number of property transactions in the county last year is evidence that demand for owning a house in Waterford is on the rise.

“Our latest study of the Property Price Register shows that there were 1,272 transactions in Waterford in 2015.

“This was up by 13pc on the 1,126 sales from the previous year.

“This figure is above the national average of 12% and shows that Waterford sales are growing once more.”

That trend has continued into 2016 with sales for the first five months of the year up by 11.8pc on the same period of last year.

There were 485 sales recorded in Co Waterford between January 1st and May 31st, compared with 434 in the same period of 2015.

Ms Keegan also revealed that prices were on the increase in the county.

“Our latest property report, released in April, showed that prices had grown in Waterford last year.

“There was a 6.7pc increase year-on-year with the average asking price for a property in the county now standing at €160,000. Prices in Waterford City also grew by 7.1pc in the first quarter to €120,000. There was also growth in the median asking price of a 3 bed semi-detached home in the county – up 3.9pc in the last quarter to €135,000, with 4 bed semi-detached homes also increasing by 9.5pc year-on-year.

“This suggests that there is a recovery in the market in Waterford and we expect that to continue into the second half of 2016.”
